Blue Coat provides a family of intelligent appliances, along with a suite of powerful software applications, that work together to give IT organizations the ability to effectively control security and performance for all users and applications. Blue Coat offers their own web filter or you can run a number of other lists on their unit. You could even use Webwasher in conjunction with Bluecoat.
Spyware Prevention and Web VirusScanning
Blue Coat stops “drive-by” installers and executable downloads (at your discretion). You can integrate a second appliance like Blue Coat AV or Webwasher to scan traffic for threats originating from sites that aren’t on the URL list and apply signature based AV scanning.
SSL Threat Protection
Blue Coat’s SSL proxy can terminate and re-initiate sessions after they have applied your policies.
IM and Skype Control
Blue Coat SG lets you secure and control the IM applications that are already in use. You can now turn public IM protocols into enterprise-class messaging solutions. You can even set policies to let certain users and groups use Skype or not.
P2P and Streaming Control
Blue Coat SG provides the network administrators tools to control, block log and bandwidth limit P2P and streaming media applications Blue Coat can control FastTrack (Kazaa), eDonkey, BitTorrent, and Gnutella.
